Up to one one billion birds die each year in the United States when they hit glass windows, walls, and other structures, making this threat one of the most costly to bird populations. Even if the impact doesn’t kill a bird immediately, it may be injured or stunned, making it vulnerable to predation later. Luckily there is an easy solution to helping make sure that less window strikes occur on your windows at home.
Static cling decals placed on the outside of your windows help cut down on reflections of sky & trees and also show the birds that something is there. Concentrate decals at center then work out, placing decals at a minimum, on every 2 feet of glass. For maximum protection, scientific studies suggest placing decals 2 inches horizontal, by 4 inches vertical, from one another. The “Window Alert” decals contain a component which brilliantly reflects ultraviolet sunlight. This ultraviolet light is invisible to humans, but glows like a stoplight for birds. Birds have vision that is up to 12 times better than that of humans!
